This position is located in the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), Mission Support Services (AJV), Strategy Directorate AJV-S). Mission Support Services fulfills the FAA mission by providing innovative and strategic direction for infrastructure and airspace design, while ensuring superior execution of policies and procedures
Duties
The General Engineer applies experience with and comprehensive knowledge of several engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical engineering to serve as either the project or implementation lead for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) large-scale infrastructure programs that transform, modernize and sustain the National Airspace System (NAS). Uses System Engineering technical management processes and tools such as configuration management, technical performance measures tools and technical design tools to support more experienced engineer in facilitating the development of the program acquisition approach, define program scope and coordinate an integrated Master Plan.

Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/pay band (FV-I, FG/GS-13) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized Experience is defined as:Experience evaluating the performance of engineering systems and recommends improvements.Experience conducting research to develop improved engineering solutions and practices.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
