This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of the Assistant Attorney General (OAAG), Office of the General Counsel.
Duties
Pre-plans the AAG's and PDAAG's commitments weeks and months in advance, forecasts potential requirements, resolves calendar conflicts and reserves time for projects and recurring commitments. Makes arrangements for meetings and conferences and notifies participants of event locations. Maintains invitations and attendee contact rosters.
Serves in a liaison capacity among the AAG, PDAAG and staff serving the same or similar roles for other DOJ offices. Serves as liaison and facilitates effective communications between OAAG and other senior executives, management and staff external to OJP.
Represents the AAG as first contact. Drafts and edits emails, letters and other communication to be sent under AAG or PDAAG signature with minimal guidance. Monitors the AAG's email inbox and phone messages and identifies those requiring action, using independent judgment.
Coordinates travel for the AAG and PDAAG. Ensures travel itineraries and briefing documents are well-organized and meet the AAG's and PDAAG's instructions and requirements.
Privy to highly sensitive information such as: personnel matters involving human resources decisions from hiring to termination actions; policy decisions that impact OJP's $5B in grant awards; communications between offices within the Department effecting overall operations; as such is required to transmit accurate, timely, sensitive, and important information on behalf of the AAG regarding these matters.
Plans and executes special projects and initiatives as directed by the AAG and PDAAG, to include data production, creating and maintaining documents, presentations, reports, etc., with a mind toward audience.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Maintaining complex and dynamic appointment calendar, scheduling appointments, and keeping principals informed of upcoming activities, commitments, and assignments; AND
Serving as a liaison and facilitating effective communication between senior executives, management, and staff; responding to a variety of inquiries from internal and external parties; AND
Drafting and editing emails, letters, and other communication; monitoring email inbox and phone messages; providing assistance to staff to ensure that the tailored responses to complex inquiries from high level sources or significant stakeholders are timely, complete, appropriate and in compliance with executive preferences and policies; AND
Coordinating travel, including making arrangements for domestic and international travel, for flights, lodging and ground transportation; AND
Planning and executing special projects and initiates as directed, to include data production, creating and maintaining documents, presentation, reports, etc.
