This position is located within the Research Service of the New Orleans VA Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develops and implements coding and analysis of literature using qualitative data analysis software
Screens and assesses documents for inclusion in environmental scan combining several search terms, parameters, and factors
Manages implementation, control, and reporting of national survey
Administers or monitors survey as required by principal investigator
Records and cleans data responses
Identifies results and trends requiring further analysis
Prepares draft reports of findings
Coordinates and assists with recruitment of candidates for the study
Screens and evaluates candidates for study entry
Schedules interviews with family members
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm

NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY appointment (not-to-exceed 1 year). This appointment may be renewed for additional service in accordance with Agency needs for 1 additional year. Temporary positions offer health insurance (if the employee is expected to work at least 130 hours per month for at least 90 days) but do not offer life insurance or retirement benefits and may be terminated at any time before the expiration date. The appointment to a Temporary position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.
Qualifications
BASIC EDUCATION (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Requires a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. ~AND~
In addition to the above requirements, applicant(s) must meet one of the following requirements:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes assisting with activities of clinical research studies; collecting and analyzing research data; preparing reports and presentations; performing duties associated with recruiting study participants; publishing in peer reviewed journals and/or presenting novel research at peer reviewed conferences.(Resume(s) must clearly support the experience in order to be creditable. We will not make assumptions.)

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Possess the successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree with a major in an appropriate field (as described above) which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position to substitute for the one year of experience, is fully qualifying for this GS-9 position. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Possess the appropriate combination of successfully completed graduate education and specialized experience, as described above, to meet the total qualification requirements. (Copy of official/unofficial transcripts required)

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary, although it may involve some local travel. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform portions of the work. However, there is periodic walking; standing; bending. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work is performed in an office setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
