You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY) in the NAVAL DISCHARGE REVIEW BOARD (NDRB) of SECNAV CORB.

Duties

You will be responsible for docketing all DD Form 293s which have been accepted by the NDRB, verifying the application to ensure all required information is present. You will prepare a case file for each application accepted, ensuring a proper docket number is assigned to each case which distinguishes it as either Navy or Marine Corps and allows for tracking of the case file. You will ensure all pertinent information is extracted from official records for inclusion in the decisional document through independent judgement and discretion to assure a complete and unbiased portrayal of each service member. You will be responsible for the security of all military service and medical records within the NDRB and must ensure the privacy of those records are maintained at all times. You will ensue the proper preparation of the decisional document, to include a summary of service, statement of the applicant's request, summary of review, evidence considered, and the applicant's issues. You will answer correspondence and inquiries from applicants, counsels, attorneys, service organizations, governmental, non-governmental agencies, and others having an interest in the cases processed by the board. You will answer telephone inquiries from applicants, their representatives, and government/non-government entities regarding current application, adjudicated cases, and NDRB processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent at the GS-07 level or pay band in Federal Service or equivalent in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience reviewing, verifying and docketing Armed Forces Discharge or Dismissal applications; Experience updating internal tracking systems; Experience monitoring cases held in abeyance; and Experience preparing various correspondence and reports. - Master's or equivalent graduate degree
- or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
