About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at US Army North Assistant Chief of Staff, G2 at Fort Sam Houston, TX.
Duties
Serves as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, G2, USARNORTH.
Assists with day-to-day oversight of programs and activities of the G2 related to assigned Homeland Defense (HD) and Civil Support (CS) missions.
Serves as the Deputy G2 for the Main Command Post (MCP) and Deputy J2 for the Joint Forces Land Component Command (JFLCC) in support of Homeland Defense and Consequence Management missions.
Maintains oversight of the readiness of deployable intelligence elements in support of no-notice deployments to a chemical, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) events either independently or with the OCP.
Provide the Commanding General and staff with current intelligence and intelligence planning products in support of current and crisis operations.
Develops concepts, plans, and policies for required intelligence support of ARNORTH and NORTHCOM.
Coordinates, reviews, and staffs all MACOM and USARNORTH campaign plans for Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) tasks and other intelligence support requirements,
Serves as the Assistant Deputy Chief of staff and chief advisor to the G2, assisting in the management and oversight of all intelligence activities.
Assists in the execution of the ARNORTH Command Security Program, which includes physical and personnel security, and Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours) by multiple means of ground and air transportation, as directed by the Secretary of Defense in responseto a Presidential Disaster Declaration (PDD).
- Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, andweekends.
- Will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions and under intense physical and mentalstress.
- Must be capable, upon completion of training, of unassisted donning of mission oriented protectiveposture (MOPP) mask, clothing and equipment, or equivalent clothing and protective equipment.
- Must be able to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots,goggles, gloves, chemical mask, and other safety equipment as required.
- Pre-employment physical required.
- Participation in the DOD/DA Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy.
- May be required to have and maintain a working telephone.
- Deploys and serves as Team Chief for the MCP/OCP of JTF and JFLCC in support of Consequence Management missions. May also be deployed to support Defense Coordinating Element (DCE) whennecessary to support FEMA operations.

- Incumbent may serve as a member or alternate member of a Response Task Force (RTF),Defense Coordinating Element (DCE) or Crisis Action Team (CAT).
- May be required toparticipate in planned or `no-notice' training and readiness exercises or operations that requirealternate and extended work hours.
- Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to includedays, nights, shifts, and weekends during periods when ARNORTH's Emergency Operations Center(EOC), CAT, JTF or RTF are activated.

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
