About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-WJMW99 HQ US ARMY SOUTH.

Duties

Supervises the daily operations of six (6) subordinate branches including Intelligence Information Systems Technology, Logistics and Supply, Resource Management, Human Resources, Linguist Branch, and Security Branch. Formulates resourcing strategies, plans and policies concerning intelligence operations and initiatives in response to emerging technologies. Serves as Chief of Intelligence Support Division for Deputy Chief of Staff (G2) for an Army Service Component Command (ASCC). Serves as the G2’s special projects officer, responsible for intelligence related projects affecting G2 operations and activities. Policy formulation requires the incumbent to conduct frequent studies of CONUS and OCONUS. Ensures automation needs match analytical and production requirements as well as US Army South/6th Army and USSOUTHCOM intelligence automation architectures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance based on a single-scope background investigation (SSBI) with the eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI) and selected special access programs (SAP).
  • Position requires extensive travel (up to 25% of the time), CONUS and OCONUS, as well as frequently extended duty with long hours under high pressure and generally high-risk job responsibilities.

Experience with multidiscipline intelligence analysis processes, procedures, methodologies, to monitor, manage, and evaluate intelligence and operational projects. 2. Experience defining critical needs within a directorate to assess future requirements impacting intelligence production and institutional intelligence requirements supporting Doctrine implications. 3. Experience developing approaches and methodologies to determine the effectiveness of intelligence coordination. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-13). Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementIntelligence Staff ManagementPartneringPlanning and Evaluating Note: In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively. The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
