Duties
Assist in installing, repairing, and modifying commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units.
Follow instructions from sketches, schematics, and blueprints to perform assembly and disassembly tasks.
Use tools such as volt ohm-ammeters, hand tools, and power tools to perform basic testing and maintenance tasks.
Complete preventative maintenance tasks, including checking and tracing simple electrical and pneumatic circuits.
Safely handle and maneuver tools and equipment, adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.
Monitor and maintain inventory of tools and materials, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and in working order.
Work both independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks according to established timelines and standards.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitable for Federal employment
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination
- Bargaining Unit Position: Washington Area Metal Trades Council (WAMTC), AFL-CIO
Qualifications
There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. Applicants must demonstrate a track record of reliability and dependability in all previous work experiences. This includes showing up on time, completing assigned tasks as directed, following safety protocols, and consistently supporting team efforts.
Applicants must pass the screen-out question and achieve an overall score of at least fifty percent (50%) or higher on the self-assessment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
