Duties

You will perform work that includes maintaining, installing and repairing a wide variety of food handling and refrigeration equipment from less than 1/8 hp and up to 100 ton air-conditioning units. You will maintain, inspect, repair and operate all galley equipment. You will perform all recurring type scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs and provide the maintenance foreman with equipment status. You will observe or operate equipment to detect malfunctions and determine the cause of trouble.

Requirements

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current Universal type EPA refrigerant certification.

Qualifications

This position has a Selective Placement Factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The Selective Placement Factor is: You must possess a current Universal EPA refrigerant certification. You must submit a copy of your license with your application to be considered for this position. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision performing the following duties: 1) Installing, maintaining, repairing, or modifying machinery and equipment associated with utility systems on a galley; 2) Using test equipment, trade tools, and schematics or diagrams to repair a variety of industrial equipment; 3) Ordering and maintaining equipment to ensure galley machinery and equipment are in efficient operating and usable order; AND 4) Determining the proper tools and materials needed to complete equipment maintenance. ***NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume.
