You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will maintain, inspect, repair and operate all galley equipment on San Clemente Island. You will perform all recurring type scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs and provide the maintenance foreman with equipment status for further corrective repairs as needed. You will perform work that includes maintaining, installing and repairing a wide variety of food handling and refrigeration equipment from less than 1/8 hp and up to 100 ton air-conditioning units. You will perform a variety of preventative and recurring maintenance and servicing operations. You will be the primary point of contact for the maintenance foreman in regard to the galley equipment's status and repairs in progress sat both the BUD's Camp Galley and Wilson Cove Galley. You will be required to test a wide variety of associated HVAC-R hardware from many manufacturers.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to maintain your current Universal EPA refrigerant certification.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
