Duties

Operate a 13,200-volt A.C. switch-gear for ten secondary switchboards. Monitor alarms and determine responses to power outages. Perform switching procedures and operate a 240 volt D.C. current rectifiers. Maintain building environmental conditions and determine equipment statuses. Lead and supervise a group of multiple craft shop professionals in a production and facility environment.

Requirements

  • You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
  • Selectees must pass a physical examination prior to appointment.
  • Strength test may be required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • Selectee may be requiremed to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Selectee must pass a drug test prior to appointment.
  • Physical - Effort: Duties require prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching above the shoulder, and climbing. A moderate amount of hand, wrist, and arm movements is involved.
  • Physical - Effort: Duties require Moderate lifting is required for objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Incumbent is required to have good eye-hand coordination and proficient vision.
  • Working Conditions: Duties are performed in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated area.
  • Working Conditions: The incumbent is exposed to low frequency noise generated by bindery equipment. The work is performed indoors, with no exposure to excessive heat or cold.
  • Selectee may be required to pass all preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
  • Selectee may be required to obtain and Maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Stationary Engineer Leader. These duties require skill in: operate a 13,200-volt A.C. switch-gear for ten secondary switchboards monitor alarms and determine responses to power outages perform switching procedures and operate a 240 volt D.C. current rectifiers maintain building environmental conditions and determine equipment statuses maintain a clean and orderly work environment lead and supervise a group of multiple craft shop professionals in a production and facility environment Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, JOB ELEMENT #1: to be considered for this position. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
