Duties

Communicate effectively with persons of different levels and backgrounds. Provides oversight of industrial machinery and equipment that regulates High Voltage Electricity and HVAC systems in the agency. Counsel employees regarding ways to improve marginal performance. Ensure work meets or exceeds the quality level required. Ensures critical systems are properly maintained in Facility Division by establishing critical system maintenance plans for the Power Branch.

Requirements

  • You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
  • Selectees must pass a physical examination prior to appointment.
  • Strength test may be required.
  • Time in Grade Requirements: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.
  • Selectee may be requiremed to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Confidential Financial Disclosure Report may be required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • Selectee must pass a drug test prior to appointment.
  • Selectee must pass a background check prior to appointment.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Facilities Craft Supervisor. These duties require skill in experience assigning work and tracks and maintains financial expenditures in accordance with established management priorities experience monitoring, safeguarding, and responding to emergency situations to protect life, health, and safety of all personnel and equipment assigned to or visiting GPO facilities use and maintain accurate written reports establish Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely (SMART) objectives to evaluate performance Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out/Job Element #1: Ability to do the work of a Facilities Craft Supervisor without more than normal supervision (SCREEN-OUT) to be considered eligible for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The screen-out element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Facilities Craft Supervisor without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Job Element #1: Ability To Do The Work of the Position Without More than Normal Supervision Job Element #73: Ability to Lead or Supervisor Job Element #75B: Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprinting reading) Job Element #25-E: Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.
