This position is located within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services at the Dallas VA Medical Center for VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) providing a wide variety of administrative and clerical support. The organizational location of the position: Administrative Support Section, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, VA North Texas Health Care System, Program IV, Bonham, Texas.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Serves as the Program Support Assistant for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services organizational units. Incumbent will provide various administrative and clerical duties in support. Collects and gather analysis data from multiple databases to complete various reports. Establishes, updates, and maintains office files and records. Performs office automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database, and/or graphics. Acts as an alternate point of contact for educational activities, equipment requests, alternate for resource management requests for personnel, and budget requests. Alternate fund control and timekeeping clerk. Uses word processing software to develop and create spreadsheets, memos, letters and varies types of correspondences. Provides clerical support such as answering the telephone, referring visitors, or providing information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures, and similar information. Maintains calendar and schedules appointments, meetings, and interviews for Supervisors and staff members. Makes administrative arrangements as required. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/30/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience. I possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service, that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed to successfully perform the duties of this position and that is typically in or related to the position being filled. Specialized experience includes: Preparing a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other related materials; Review and process incoming and outgoing correspondence, regulations, and directives; Review and finalize correspondence, charts, graphs, and documents to final draft; Proficient in various office automation software and processing procedures; Process and serve as the Primary Timekeeper and alternate fund control point clerk; Provides customer service to meet the needs of customers constructively and appropriately. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Control of Funds Customer Service Knowledge Management Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and the incumbent may sit comfortably. to do the work. Work may also require walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items like paper or books. No special; physical demands are in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
