About the Position: The purpose of this position is to assist engineering staff in the development of complex preliminary and final designs for structural engineering features of navigation and flood risk management, recreation projects, and/or military (barracks, maintenance shops, training center, office buildings)

Duties

Develops complete drawings of complex structural items of reinforced concrete, steel, wood, gravity structures, and foundation systems to satisfy project needs. Assists in preparing structural layouts in preliminary or final form utilizing analytical information. Develops advanced 3-dimensional models of structural features utilizing CADD and/or BIM or other software packages. Coordinates and controls quality standards for development of engineering projects using CADD and or BIM standards and procedures. Prepare small and large complex drawing packages relating to structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering fields for projects. Assists in the preparation of support documents relating to technical studies or specification and design submissions using drafts of preliminary or completed designs.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. This position has an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) that must be met in order to qualify for the Architect (0802) series. In addition to meeting the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) above, you must also possess the required specialized experience below in order to qualify for this position. To qualify at the GS-0802-11 grade level: Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service which includes preparing structural layouts, preliminary and final details of drawings, and all or portions of design analysis for a variety of engineering features for navigation, flood risk management, recreation projects, and/or military (barracks, maintenance shops, training center, office buildings) projects; working from information in the form of sketches, notes, or verbal instructions from engineers, advanced 3-dimensional models of structural features using CADD and/or BIM software and help train others in using these models for planning; performing technical and design assignments, using CADD and civil engineering design software package. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). To qualify at the GS-0802-10 grade level: Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting with the preliminary and final details of drawings, and all or portions of design analysis for a variety of engineering features for navigation, flood risk management, recreation projects, and/or military (barracks, maintenance shops, training center, office buildings) projects; working from information in the form of sketches, notes, or verbal instructions from engineers, advanced 3-dimensional models of structural features using CADD and/or BIM software and assists others in using these models for planning; performing technical and design assignments, using CADD and civil engineering design software package. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsDesignOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10) for the GS-11 grade level and (GS-09) for the GS-10 grade level.
