As a Public Affairs Officer leading the media operations activities at NASA, you will be responsible for revising policies and procedures, developing integrated schedules, managing requests for access to film on the Center(s) property, assessing qualifications and screening applicants for media credentials, managing internal communications, managing social media and digital accounts, and collaborating with other public affairs officers, agency, and partner personnel for media engagements.
Duties
Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Coordinate with Agency leadership on movies and major documentaries that have an interest in producing material.
Oversee the media operations for launches, landings, and media events and engagements.
Collaborate with programs and partners for access to property and facilities.
Provide detailed planning for documentary crews and major media outlets to cover historical milestones.
Plan and coordinate the staffing levels necessary to support all events involving media; ensuring all logistical aspects are addressed and revised in real-time as necessary.
Strategize with public affairs staff on creative ways to involve media coverage in unique or human related coverage of program or mission elements/milestones.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at multiple levels within a program and partnership in order to develop and disseminate program messages;
Assisting media or invited guests in their efforts to capture, tell or spread a story;
Drafting communications or logistical plans in support of launch, landing, mission milestones or events.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Drafting and reviewing communications or logistical plans in support of launch, landing, mission milestones, or events;
Coordinating cross agency initiatives to address media operations, guest operations or events;
Drafting or reviewing communication products for public release media advisories for media activities and launches to provide credentialing and logistical deadlines.
