NASA's Office of Communications Enterprise is seeking Supervisory Public Affairs Specialists. As a supervisor you will lead a team of highly skilled public affairs specialists responsible for overall management of operations to gather and distribute news and information about NASA.
Duties
Supervises the team to plan, organize, direct, gather, coordinate, produce, write, and edit products, and disseminate news and public information regarding NASA activities that are released to the media and public.
Leads the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, and coordinates initiatives, policy implementation, and consensus building.
Provides expert writing and copying editing for various news and informational products in a variety of digital/multimedia mediums.
Identifies and develops strategies, tactics, products, messaging, and plans and conducts public and news events for agency strategic communications priorities and various high-profile activities.
Serves as a lead spokesperson for the agency and is authorized to speak on behalf of NASA to members of the media, public, and other groups.
Establishes and maintains mutual communication with internal and external NASA audiences, including the public and media, both foreign and domestic.
Formulates, prepares, and defends budget and staffing requests to ensure that future objectives of NASA communication goals can be obtained within allocated resources.
Obtains resources and identifies strategic objectives for the organization. Defines jobs, selects employees, and assigns work. Manages human, financial, and information resources strategically to meet organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level
Leading key activities including communication planning, message development, media responses, setting up and staffing interviews with subject matter experts;
Advising and briefing public affairs specialists and top managers and decision-makers about important national and international issues;
Developing detailed plans, tasks, milestone dates, and schedules to ensure proper sequencing of events and tracking of processes and costs throughout the life cycle of the programs/projects.
