This position is in Region 2, Public Affairs Office, Media Relations Branch. About Region 2. This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.*EPA offers work-from-home and work schedule flexibilities as described in the Benefits section.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level defined as developing communication plans, taking into account specific communities or diverse audiences with varying points of view; managing the complete cycle of public affairs campaigns and communication strategies on EPA centered themes; and fostering relationships with external and internal stakeholders and media representatives to facilitate effective communication related to environmental protection programs. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of outreach tools/products. Skill in written communication. Knowledge of a variety of communication strategies. Skill in oral communication. Ability to use interactive web tools for communication purposes. Knowledge of social media platforms to achieve communication goals. Ability to plan events. Ability to negotiate. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
