This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for IT Specialist (Systems Administration) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a System Administrator (SA) for the Joint Center for International Security Force Assistance (JCISFA), responsible forsupporting of information technology (IT) systems and operations to include desktop and laptop support.

Duties

As a Information Technology Specialist (SysAdmin), you will be responsible for the following duties: Responsible for setup, installation, maintenance, implementation of patches and problem resolution for computer systems and new technologies. Responsible for the security, disk management, system backup and recovery for networked data storage systems. Monitoring systems utilization and functionality. Troubleshoots computer problems such as system crashes, extended response times, environmental problems, related peripherals and unauthorized access.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary duty travel (5% or less) away from the normal duty station.
  • Must obtain and maintain IA baseline certification/recertification (A+, Network+ or Security+), and a computing environment (CE) certification within 6 months of employment IAW 8570-01-M.

Basic requirement: IT Competencies: for this occupational series there are competency requirements in addition to specialized experience and/or education that applicants must possess in order to be minimally qualified. The competencies below must also be demonstrated in your resume. 1. Attention to Detail: Review data from multiple sources and determine relevant information to a given situation. Draft, edit and disseminate written reports and status updates that are factual, timely and relatively error free .2. Customer Service: Develop and maintain relationships with customers with diverse needs. Provide technical information about products and services. Assess the needs of customers and identify or tailor products and/or services to meet their needs. 3. Oral Communication: Communicate, explain or defend ideas or information clearly. Listen to others and recognize potential miscommunications. 4. Problem Solving: Use logic to identify alternatives to solve technical problems. Identify and solve problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined asexperience installing, configuring, troubleshooting network and application server hardware; developing internal IT processes AND ensuring the security and efficiency of the computer systems within the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
