This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs (R) which leads the Department’s efforts to expand and strengthen the relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other countries. You will serve as a Staff Assistant on the immediate staff of the Under Secretary (R) who serves as the lead office manager and works closely with the Under Secretary and Executive Assistant.
Duties
Serves as the principal manager of the Under Secretary’s schedule and coordinates their travel arrangements on all official trips, both domestically and abroad.
Engages identified bureaus to conduct analysis, develop practices to facilitate meetings and organize interorganizational groups and establishes processes to formalize those relationships.
Serves as the central point of contact and liaison with the R front office principals and other 7th floor and interagency contacts, including at the White House to keep abreast of issues and concerns that may impact policy issues affecting R.
Uses a wide range of quantitative and/or qualitative methods to independently analyze operational issues as it pertains to efficiency of program and program support activities, logistical and equipment issues, and other administrative matters.
Serves as a mentor to new senior advisors and special assistants.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Obtain/maintain eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information
Qualifications

NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience managing all administrative activities for an organization.
Experience developing records and file systems based on substantive knowledge of pertinent regulations and policies.
Experience coordinating and overseeing high level meetings.
Experience developing operating procedures within an office.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
