The position functions as Supervisory Medical Administrative Specialist assigned to Health Administration Service (HAS). The supervisor duties and responsibilities are carried out in support of Primary Care, Mental Health, and Speciality Care services in an outpatient setting. The supervisor has administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing all HAS staff under their supervision.
Duties
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TOO :
This position is responsible for planning and directing the work of the Medical Support Assistants (MSA), Advanced Medical Support Assistants (AMSAs), and Lead Medical Support Assistants assigned to their area of supervision. The supervisor assigns and evaluates the work of subordinate staff, resolves complex issues when problems arise, identifies educational and training needs, and makes recommendations for improved operations. The supervisor participates in the interview process and takes the appropriate corrective employee actions when needed. Other duties may require:
Coordinates a measurement system and quality improvement efforts within the parameters of the teams.
Systematically review all activities to assure that the highest quality of care is delivered in the most cost possible.
Recommends changes in existing programs, using productivity, cost effectiveness s and clinical outcome criteria.
Periodically works with other managers to assess the effectiveness of the HAS operation and to make recommendations concerning resources, patient flow, etc.
Responds to Congressional inquiries, conducts administrative investigations and prepares reports response with concurrence of team leaders for signature of the Chief Medical Officer.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/26/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Applicants must have one (1) full year of specialized experience related to this position. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service.
Specialized experience - Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Planning, coordinating, implementing, and controlling the overall activities related to workforce and personnel management, budget, human resources activities, training, action items and congressional letters, quality monitoring and compliance with applicable regulation or policy. Reviews, analyzes and interprets incoming requests, recommends appropriate action or suggests appropriate alternatives based on knowledge of internal operations, personnel policies, budgetary constraints and work priorities. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. (Transcript required). OR,
Combination of Experience & Education: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education. (Transcript required).

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary; although, some slight physical effort may be required for lifting such as computer paper, books, files, etc.
