This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Equal Employment Opportunity Staff (EEOS), in Washington, D.C. The EEOS is responsible for developing policy, methods, and procedures for implementing a model EEO program that complies with established Departmental policies, federal EEO statutes and regulations, and EEO-related Presidential Executive Orders.

The duties and responsibilities for the Veterans Employment Program Manager generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Develops policies, methods, and procedures for implementing an effective veterans program and to support EEO program goals. Provides advice, technical assistance, and support to management officials and Component EEO personnel, and works closely with Human Resources (HR) and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility officials to increase the participation and retention of veterans in the DOJ workforce. Collaborates with internal and external stakes holders to conduct strategic employment outreach with veterans advocacy organizations and federal partners. Manages the DOJ Veterans Employment Program to support transitioning active-duty personnel, veterans, and disabled veterans seeking DOJ employment. Serves as the Departmental Veterans Employment Program Manager and reports to the Assistant Director for Affirmative Employment.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Veterans Employment Program Manager at (GS-0301-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: 1.) Knowledge of federal recruitment and hiring policies and guidelines to effectively collaborate with HR Staff to develop and meet veterans' recruitment goals and objectives for the Department. 2.) Evaluates and improves programs and operations oriented to veterans and disabled veterans to meet established goals and objectives as well as program and operational performance data. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 09/03/2024.
