You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will follow safety practices and procedures in the operation of vehicles.
You will interpret instructions or specifications related to bus operations, preventive maintenance, and passenger safety.
You will load, arrange, and secure cargo into vehicle using techniques and equipment (e.g., chains, binders, straps, tie-downs) for safe transit.
You will drive different sizes of passenger buses to transport passengers.
You will operate vehicles with the gross weight of more than 32,000lbs; vehicles that are oversized and/or equipped with more than one body or two braking systems.
You will perform minor repairs or adjustments on vehicles.
You will operate truck tractors with trailer or semitrailer coupled by means of turntable (fifth wheel) or pintle (pivot) hook, and/or tandem rig consisting of either a single trailer or two trailers in tow.
You will perform operator maintenance on all vehicles operated.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to possess a current Commercial Driver's license (or equivalent OF-346 for retired military) with Class and Endorsements based on job requirements.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to possess a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You must possess, or be able to obtain a California class "B" Commercial Driver License with "P" and "X" endorsements.

1) Operating coach buses according to traffic regulations, safety precautions, speed limits;
2) Performing operator maintenance on all vehicles operated (e.g., monitoring fluid levels, replacing air filters and interior lights, checking tire pressure and hose connections, and washing the vehicle); and
