You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) of NAVBASE SAN DIEGO SEC DET.

Duties

You will use office automation software (e.g. word processing, database, spread sheet programs) to draft security documents in accordance with outlined regulations and procedures. You will collect data from various sources to provide reports and other documents to management. You will brief employees and visitors on controls and restrictions associated with access to Federal installations. You will prepare correspondence in accordance with organization policies and type a variety of documents in final format.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Composing correspondence and maintaining a variety of documents and files according to established guidelines; 2) Responding to information requests and producing reports on work status, production, training, and personnel ; 3) Supporting supply requirements by determining supply needs, reviewing supply purchases, and completing procurement from appropriate sources ; and 4) Utilizing office equipment (e.g personal computer, fax machine, scanner, etc) to perform administrative tasks. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
