You will serve as a LEAD HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MIL/OA) in the INSTALLATION PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION CENTER.

Duties

You will be providing assistance, information, and administrative support to the Marines, Sailors, and civilian personnel assigned to the Depot. You will be researching and resolving pay and entitlement discrepancies and initiate the required corrective actions. You will be preparing or verifying unit diaries for timeliness and accuracy. Responding to Unit Diary Feedback Reports and conducting audits of Service Records. Preparing military pay orders via Document Tracking Management Service. You will be performing all personnel support functions required to process Marines assigned to MCRD for Formal Schooling, Permanent Change of Station Orders, humanitarian reasons, active duty for training, and other valid requirements. You will be preparing documents required for separation and retirement to include travel, discharge orders, DD Form 214, and other separation and retirement requirements. You will be conducting first stage, second stage and Official Military Personnel File audits for newly assigned permanent personnel.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You may have to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 40 pounds in weight including boxes of paper.
  • This position may be required to work nights Monday through Thursday between 1800-600 for a 10 hour work day. These personnel are entitled to night differential pay of 10 from the basic pay.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-06) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying military personnel rules, regulations and procedures; explaining personnel entitlements; processing personnel and pay actions/corrections; AND leading a team of subordinates to ensure work accomplishments.
