Duties
If selected at the WG-05, WG-08, WG-10 or WG-11 level, the below responsibilities will be performed in a developmental capacity
If filled at the WG-05 level, position has promotion potential to the positions of Electronic Industrial Controls Worker, WG-08; Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic, WG-10, WG-11; and the target WG-12.
Incumbent participates in formal and on-the-job training designed to prepare him/her for advancement to the target level based on completion of training, supervisor’s recommendation, and availability of work at the time of promotion.
At the full performance level, performs installation, maintenance, repair, rebuild, retrofit and remanufacture of a wide variety of complex multi-axis, multi-function machine tools and industrial equipment.
Sets up, precision levels, power operates and analytically inspects machine tools to determine if all feeds, speeds and cycling operations are functioning properly and whether they conform to specified test patterns
Performs precision hand work such as scraping or lapping of machined ways and sliding surfaces for proper alignment.
Repairs, rebuilds, remanufactures and replaces broken and worn parts, components, subassemblies and sub-systems such as precision bearings, gears and gear trains, linkages, shafts, gibs, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic systems, lubrication systems, etc.
Uses mechanical hand and power tools, precision gages and testing instruments, and special tools to obtain precision tolerances.

Qualifications
To qualify for an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic Helper / Electronic Industrial Controls Worker / Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and that you have the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
