About the position: This position will be assigned to the Resources Flight Dyess AFB, Texas. This position is considered Regular Full-Time (RFT). You are guaranteed 40 hours/week. You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Duties

Manages functionality of Nonappropriated Fund Instrumentalities information technology (IT) and related computer, peripheral systems. Position is designated IAT Level 1. Uses computer software/hardware troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve IT related problems for organizations that utilize a wide variety of business, off-the-shelf point-of-sale (e.g. Epitome, ALOHA Point of Sale (POS), Users Friend POS, Subsistence Total Order Receipt electronic system (STORES), Defense Lodging System, Services Employee Time Keeping System (SETS), Bowling software Qubica, and DoD applications, etc. Enforces security program for terminal areas and remote terminals which are part of the network. Ensures compliance with established installation and payment card industry security procedures, reports security vulnerabilities, incidents and problems to the proper authority. Resolves system failures by establishing work-arounds, repairing or readjusting systems. Installs software releases, performs system upgrades, evaluates and installs software and security patches. Works with activity managers ensuring releases, upgrades and installation are conducted to avoid system down-time and to minimize disruption. Recommends system upgrades, improvements and purchases. Coordinates with other base agencies in the procurement and deployment of IT systems. Maintains work order database and produces related reports. Resolves customer problems and answers questions related to hardware or software issues. Recommends preventative actions to customers to prevent recurring problems or system inefficiencies. Acts as a liaison between Dyess AFB and outside agencies, contractors/vendors, AFGSC, AFPC, etc. Performs routine network administration, operation and maintenance of computer systems and networks. Assists in developing and maintaining systems standards. Installs, implements and maintains network hardware systems such as cable, hubs, routers and network server reconfigurations. Establishes transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) connectivity with other systems and base. Loads and configures servers, corrects server connectivity issues, performs server upgrades and migration to new system-level software. Maintains server operating systems in coordination with other IT staff to ensure application performance and security are maintained. Administers IT Account Managers (ITAMS) inventory for assigned activities, documenting temporary and/or permanent receipt, transfer or disposition of hardware. Utilizes word processing and spreadsheet applications in the development and maintenance of documents associated with assigned area. According with regulatory guidelines maintains official office files, reports, instructions, regulations, inventory data and certification packages. Operates a government vehicle in the performance of duties delivering hardware/software, meeting with vendors, traveling to activities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Progressively responsible IT/computer experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the required duties. Must possess experience in analyzing and evaluating system software/hardware requirements, systems and their interfaces, and network security, for a variety of administrative, technical and business program applications processed on multi-program operating systems to include a basic understanding of network devices such as servers, routers, switches, associated software tools and cabling in a large LAN/WAN environment is required. Additionally, must possess experience in capabilities and limitations of a variety of computers, computer network systems, and programs; as well as computer-related software and hardware in order to test, install, upgrade, configure, diagnose, and maintain proper functionality in accordance with DoD/AF system standards. Education in a 4-year course in an accredited college/university leading to a Bachelor's degree in an IT related field may be substituted for experience. Highly desirable work experience, skills and abilities include (1) understanding of the open systems interconnections model (2) experience with DoD automated data processing and networking standards policies and techniques (3) database engineering (MS-Access or SQL) (4) Microsoft Certified System Administration (5) experience with POS systems (6) knowledge of network protocols such as Open Shortest Path First, Border Gateway Protocol, and Enhanced Interior Gateway Protocol. Must have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing and have a working knowledge of using various office automation software. Must be able to possess and maintain COMPTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification for the position and to release certification qualifications(s) to the DoD through DWCA within 6 months of employment. As a condition of privileged access to government information systems, incumbent must satisfy preparatory and sustaining DoD IA training and certification. As a condition of employment incumbent must agree to sign Privileged Access Statement. Must be able to complete and maintain a Tier 3 Background investigation. Must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include weekends and holidays, on-call and overtime hours. May be required to carry a cell phone. Must be able to successfully complete a physical examination. Must be physically able to bend stoop, climb, reach, crawl, kneel, lift and carry computer equipment and weighing up to 40 pounds. As a condition of employment must: Be able to provide a copy of current driving record, maintain a current driver's license and operate a motorized vehicle in a proper and safe manner. Must participate in initial training, must complete an on-the-job skills practical evaluation to meet functional requirements. Must maintain IA and CE certification status. Must complete continuous education or Sustainment Training. Must complete Payment Card Industry training within 3 months of hire. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
