About the position: This position will be assigned to the Resources Flight Dyess AFB, Texas .
This position is considered Regular Full-Time (RFT). You are guaranteed 40 hours/week. You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Employees are eligible to earn annual/sick leave and sign up for benefits, to include Health/Dental and Life Insurance, 401k and NAF Retirement.
Duties
Manages functionality of Nonappropriated Fund Instrumentalities and related computer and peripheral systems.
Uses computer software/hardware troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve IT related problems for organizations that utilize a wide variety of business, off-the-shelf point-of-sale (Epitome, ALOHA POS, Users Friend POS, Caterease, STORES, Defense Lodging System, MIS, TMX, SETS, Qubica, etc.), DoD applications, etc.
Resolves system failures by establishing workarounds, repairing, or readjusting systems.
Plans and ensures software releases are properly installed to avoid system down-time, coordinates with activity to minimize disruption and assists in preparing for installation of new computer systems and releases.
Acts as a liaison between Dyess AFB, and outside agencies, contractors/vendors, ACC, AFPC, etc., ensuring installation of software, hardware, plans, and standards are met. Maintains work order database and produces related reports.
Resolves customer problems and answers questions related to hardware or software issues.
Recommends preventive actions to customer to preclude recurring problems or system inefficiencies.
Performs all system patches and upgrades as required.
Enforces security program for terminal areas and remote terminals which are part of the network, ensures compliance with established installation and payment card industry (PCI) security procedures, reports security vulnerabilities, incidents, and problems to the correct authority.
Installs, implements, and maintains network hardware systems such as cable, hubs, routers, and current network server reconfigurations. Establishes TCP/IP connectivity with other systems and base.
Administers ADPE inventory for several sections (including Fund Administration) and documents temporary and/or permanent receipt, transfer, or disposition of hardware.
Recommends system upgrades, improvements, and purchases, coordinating with other base agencies in the procurement and deployment of IT systems when necessary.
Develops operating instructions if required.
Stores, maintains, and updates all official office files, reports, instructions, regulations, inventory data, and certification packages.
Utilizes word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must be able to lift and carry computer equipment weighing up to 40 pounds (at times up and down stairs) and may be required to operate a GOV when going to activities outside of work area, transport equipment/supplies, meet with vendor, etc.
May be required to carry a beeper/pager or cell phone.
Position is a position of trust.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience should clearly reflect progressively responsible computer experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the required duties.
Experience should include the ability to analyze and evaluate system software/hardware requirements, hardware software systems and their interfaces, network security, data content and output options for a variety of administrative and technical program applications processed on several multi-program operating systems, standards, policies, and procedures related to computer systems, security, and functionality.
Education in a 4-year course in an accredited college/university leading to a Bachelor's degree in a computer related field may be substituted for experience.
Highly desirable experience includes experience with DoD automated data processing and networking standards, policies, and techniques; database engineering (MS-Access or SQL); Microsoft Certified System Administrator; experience with POS systems (ALOHA, FoodTrac, RecTrac, Qubica).
Knowledge of the fundamental capabilities and limitations of a variety of computers, computer network systems, and programs; as well as computer-related software and hardware in order to test, install, upgrade, configure, diagnose, and maintain proper functionality in accordance with DoD/AF system standards.
Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Must possess COMPTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification and obtain other training as required.
As a condition of employment incumbent agrees they will obtain the appropriate certification for the position to be filled and understands they must agree to release their certification qualifications(s) to the DoD through DWCA.
As a condition of privileged access to information systems, incumbent must satisfy both preparatory and sustaining DoD IA training and certification requirements.
Must sign Privileged Access Statement.
Certification holders must ensure that their certificates stay active.
Expired certifications must be renewed.
Must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Subject to satisfactory completion of a Tier 3.
Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include weekends and holidays.
Must be able to successfully complete a physical examination and be able to lift and carry computer equipment weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally up and down flights of stairs.
Must be able to maintain a current driver's license and provide a current driving record.
This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
