About the Position: Serves as Program Support Specialist assisting and advising the Chief/Deputy Chief, Engineering Division and Branch Chefs in the formulation, development and direction of training and personnel management and manpower policy matters.

Duties

Plans, coordinates, and manages personnel management functions and personnel actions such as but not limited to recruitment, selection, promotions, and reassignments. Executes administrative duties related to time and attendance, purchase requests, records management, and/or general correspondence. Serves as Engineering Division's Training Officer. Provides technical assistance by keeping abreast of current regulations, policies, procedures, and issues related to the automated personnel systems.

Requirements

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License.
  • The duties of this position require travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Supporting senior level management by providing administrative, clerical and/or program support at the Branch or Division level; 2) Using automated systems to compile data, create, and submit personnel actions and training requests; and 3) Preparing personnel actions such as but not limited to promotions, reassignments, term/temp appointment and details. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementManages and Organizes InformationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
