The primary purpose of this position, STORAGE SPECIALIST NH-2030-02, is to serve as an Asset Management Specialist. This requires working in sections to include Individual Protection Equipment including Gas Masks, Warehouse Operations, Inventory, Flight Service Center, Armory, and to maintain/develop continuity and provide on-the-job training and qualification training

Duties

Receive, ship, examine, verify, and identify complex categories of materials and equipment, such as those that area corrosive, low-level radioactive, low-level explosive, classified, high-valued equipment, precious/strategic/classified metals and complex electronic or mechanical equipment, assemblies, and components. Plan, organize, and oversee the activities of the organization, ensuring that logistics management related operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs. Participate in special logistics related operation projects and initiatives and performs special assignments. Represent the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Identify, mark, and label cargo for shipment or storage.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, ADMINISTRATIVE AND MANAGEMENT POSITIONS. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NH-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc).General experience is described as experience demonstrating the ability to: regularly analyze and interpret guidance related to transportation management regulations; assist in planning and executing a variety of classified material shipments to locations and aid in identifying, analyzing and resolving a variety of transportation issues or problems in moving freight within the continental U.S. and overseas locations. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: Applicant must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicant must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques for the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of the program and/or strategic sourcing. Knowledge of overall missions, functions, and organization of the agency or component. Ability to apply the knowledge to evaluate current organizational strategies and performance. Knowledge of organizational concepts, principles, and practices as related to the requirements for performance-based logistics, acquisition, supply maintenance, procurement procedures, manufacturing, strategic sourcing, and other support areas. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with accuracy, and maintain good working relations with all individuals and organizations. Ability to work with, lead, and manage various groups or individuals to resolve difficult problems/situations as related to organizational issues. Ability to understand and deploy lean concepts in problem resolution. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. May require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items such as paper or books; No special physical demands are required to perform the work. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring the use of normal safety precautions necessary for an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. However, the incumbent may be required to move from one issue to the next, with many distractions, which may include but are not limited to noise in the production area.
