Duties

As a Health Communications Specialist (Bilingual/Spanish) you will: Provide language translation of scientific materials and findings ensuring that the translations developed are both technically and linguistically appropriate for the Spanish language. Maintain timelines and monitors project quality. Plan, apply, and evaluate various communication science and marketing techniques to achieve optimal program results and promote positive health outcomes. Coordinate and conduct activities related to long- and short-range planning; program and project development, implementation and evaluation; audience research; and translation and dissemination of scientific information to audiences in a variety of formats. Develop messages and materials that are valid and consistent with program objectives and are based on communication and marketing theory and principles as well as audience research (including concept, message, and Web-usability testing).

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: developing and implementing national communication and marketing programs, projects and/or initiatives; developing content on digital platforms; and translating scientific materials and findings in English and Spanish. In addition to meeting the above Minimum qualification requirements, applicants must be able to be fluent in Spanish (i.e., oral and written communications). Selective Placement Factors (SPF) are special qualification requirements, in addition to the minimum requirements, that are essential in successfully performing the duties of the job. If SPF experience is not documented in your resume, you will not receive further consideration under this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
