About the Position: Serves as technical advisor and expert with responsibility for interpretation and implementation of policy, procedures, guidance, consultative assistance, and staff coordination in one or more areas consisting of: Environmental Compliance, Installation Restoration, National Environmental Policy Act documentation, Environmental Management and Conservation, and Pollution Prevention.

Duties
Evaluate alternatives in order to make a determination, draw a conclusion or solve a problem related to environmental quality and restoration projects and guidance.
Develop policy and procedures guidance for environmental programs within the Major Subordinate Commands (MSC’s), Readiness Divisions (RD’s), installations, facilities and activities throughout the Army Reserve.
Brief chain of command, including Headquarters level leadership on program status, environmental challenges, and proposed solutions.
Initiate, provide guidance for, and approve plans that translate environmental requirements into proposed projects, contracts, and other acquisition strategies.
Resolve highly technical administrative and project problems related to environmental requirements and regulations.
Identify environmental risk and develop key targets and mitigation plans to reduce negative impacts and advance sustainability objectives, with a mission-oriented focus.
Review and approve subordinate installation's funding requests to ensure sufficient resources to support prioritized program objectives.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience planning, developing, reviewing, evaluating, and participating directly in the establishment and implementation of environmental protection and enhancement policies and programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower or second grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
