This position is located in the Nursing Department at Northern Cheyenne Service Unit, Lame Deer, MT. The purpose of this position is to manage the appointment system, serve as receptionist, and assist with clerical duties to provide efficient services to clients, visitors, and other healthcare providers under the direction of the Director of Nursing. The employee provides a wide range of administrative support duties for the Nursing Department.

Duties

Performs a variety of receptionist duties such as meeting and greeting patients and visitors, registering patients, receiving and making telephone calls, transferring calls to appropriate staff; escorts patients and/or family members. Performs a variety of record keeping, maintains administrative reports, reviews patient records for compliance, initiates administrative related forms for patient's signature, and orients new staff. Interviews patient to obtain necessary patient registration information, i.e. demographic and insurance information and authorization to enable the Business Office to bill for health care services provided from all alternative resources, including the non-beneficiary services. Obtain and verify eligibility for Medicaid, Medicare, and/or private or commercial insurance

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-03: Six (6) months of general experience; OR One (1) year above high school. GS-04: One (1) year of general experience; OR Two (2) year's above high school. GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-04 grade level; OR Four (4) years above high school. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: interviewing patients to gather information; entering patient data into an automated patient registration system; assisting patients in completing forms; reviewing documents for accuracy; explaining processes and policies to patients, initiating health records and admission forms. General Experience - Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience - Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Education
