You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECILAIST in the Office of OFFSECNAV WASHINGTON DC.

Duties

You will stay abreast of Department of Defense and Department of the Navy related news and keeps the Public Affairs Office (PAO) updated on pressing concerns displayed in the public media environment. You will ensure social media calendar is maintained and social posts across social channels are properly allocated and measure response and engagement via social media strategy/tactics. You will research and provides assistance with the understanding of target audiences, stakeholders and strategy/tactics for expressing SECNAV initiatives and objectives. You will analyze, write, review, and process prepared correspondence for final review and managerial signature, reviewing for procedural and grammatical correctness, conformance with general policy, factual accuracy, and proper staffing. You will enter data into the correspondence tracking system Enterprise Task Management Software Solution (ETMS2), Office of the Secretary of Defense Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS), and the DoD Directives Portal. You will evaluate administrative practices and procedures to determine operational effectiveness, analyze problems of administrative matters and recommend solutions, ensuring the PAO is aware of policy guidance.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position is eligible for part time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience addressing public and media inquiries using automated communication technologies; Experience providing a variety of Public Affairs (PA) support (communication planning and evaluation, speech writing, press release, editing, briefing materials, etc); and Experience writing, reviewing, and processing prepared correspondence for final review and managerial signature.
