Duties

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of technical/clerical duties in support of civilian and military training programs. Duties: Assists in the management of military technical training allocations and the selection process for no-name allocations to include Officer/Enlisted Professional Military Education (PME). Assists other training technicians with civilian training program. Supports a variety of duties related to the education services, base training, formal training programs. Uses varied functions of multiple office automation software to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc.

Qualifications

This is a Temporary position NTE 12 MONTHS. Current Federal civilian employees may apply for this position using "Reinstatement" eligibility. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Position, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes (1) Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters, (2) A practical understanding of civilian and military training programs and their objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements, and (3) Performance of support duties that facilitate the work of professional education personnel in education and training activities. OR EDUCATION: Applicant has successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicants have a combination of qualifying specialized experience and education that when combined total at least 100 percent. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the civilian and military training programs, their objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements. 2. Knowledge and skill using various applications related to programs (e.g. personnel systems, interactive training databases, travel expense tracking systems, etc.) 3. Knowledge and skill with various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, spreadsheets, databases, and/or graphs. A qualified typist is not required. 4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 5. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
