You will serve as a Environmental Protection Specialist in the Facilities Department of the Marine Forces Reserve. Duties

You will Independently interpret laws, executive orders, regulation and policies to effect sound technical decisions and successful project execution. You will provide technical assistance on proper accumulation, packaging, labeling, storing, and disposal of hazardous waste. You will coordinate with MARFORRES field and site staff to support spill response, recovery, mitigation and preparedness activities. You will review work to ensure that congressional, environmental, and administrative constraints on project scope and cost are not exceeded or violated. You will coordinate with other stakeholders to assure schedules, cost estimates, and strategies are accurate and executable. You will coordinate training programs for all MARFORRES environmental personnel involved with the handling of hazardous waste. You will monitor training and exercises to ensure compliance with all Federal, state, local environmental laws, executive orders, regulations and policies. You will meet with public, Federal, state and, other local agencies to resolves conflicts and seek mutual resolution to problems. Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following: 1) Developing, analyzing, and modifying existing environmental compliance programs; 2) Providing technical support and guidance in regards to the compliance of pollution prevention; 3) Identifying and coordinating training needs for personnel regarding the handling of hazardous waste; and 4) Providing program, division, and directorate representation at relevant meetings, conferences, and discussions federal, state, and local governmental regulatory agencies and contractors.
