This position serves as a Supervisory Engineering Equipment Operator in a BLM field office in North Bend, OR
Duties
As the Engineering Equipment Operator Supervisor in this position, you will:
Plans, schedules and oversees road maintenance activities and related administrative functions for roadways and timber access roads.
Responsible for proper use and maintenance of all engineering and construction equipment and tools assigned.
Prepares and is responsible for long-term programming and annual budgeting.
Ensures program accomplishments are achieved within budget allocations.
Performs supervisory duties in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Operates heavy equipment and trucks for clearing, grading, removing slide material, placing riprap, maintaining and resurfacing aggregate and oiled roads, shaping of roadways, cutting brush, hauling equipment, and flagging traffic.
Procures supplies.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- May be required to complete background investigation.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.

- You may be required to occasionally travel overnight away from home. You must be eligible to obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.

Qualifications
There is no required length of time of qualifying experience or training. However, your resume must demonstrate enough experience to support the SCREEN-OUT Element of: Your ability to perform the duties of a Engineering Equipment Operator Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Examples of such experience include: (1) supervising the operation of gasoline or diesel powered equipment such as road graders, bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, or water trucks in all terrain environments; (2) planning daily work of crew and equipment as well as the methods and procedures for maintenance activities; (3) conducting equipment, work site, or motor vehicle preventive maintenance, repairs, and/or safety inspections; (4) leading or training subordinates in the operation of engineering equipment.

Additional SCREEN-OUT Element: This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate special endorsements to perform the work of the position. (Note: This license must be obtained prior to entrance on duty (EOD) and prior to being assigned operator duties.

Physical Demands: The work of this position is both sedentary and physical. Physical effort ranges from sedentary office settings to heavy physical situations. The incumbent frequently operates bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, motor graders, trucks, and other equipment. This part of the work may require frequent lifting, walking, climbing, bending and stooping. The incumbent must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License and be able to pass all physical requirements to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors in an office setting and outdoors. Temperature extremes can range from zero to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. Work activities may involve driving over steep, winding mountainous roads under adverse weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to field working conditions which include dust, grease, soiling of clothing and skin, noise, vibrations, fumes, slippery surfaces, poison oak, and other hazards encountered performing field work. The incumbent may assume direct oversight and supervision for work in potentially dangerous and hazardous situations.
