About the Position: The position is with the Sacramento Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). The mission of the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM), and the MEPS, is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into 5 branches of military Service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard).
Duties
Provide technical expertise, guidance and leadership to the Processing Element of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS)
Conducts on-the-job training of new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Provides input to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems.
Greets applicants, tracks enrollment, movement, and processing progress. Assembles applicants, administers briefings, and instructs applicants.
Manages projection scheduling, performing quality review of applicant processing requirements, monitoring completion status, handling receipt of meal and lodging lists.
Interviews applicants, verifying data/forms, gathering information, referring applicant additional disclosed information to appropriate enlistment, recruiting, or processing authority.
Accomplishes records management responsibilities ensuring; timely release of and accountability for records, transferring records, performing quality control of records, screening to ensure required documents are present.
Certifies that enlistment has been properly conducted by verifying system displayed contract is complete and all additional disclosed information has been supplied to the service representative.
Requirements
- Employee is required to successfully complete the Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required to access the MHS GENESIS System.
- Employee may be required to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
- Employee will routinely be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
- Employee may be required to perform occasional overnight travel as assigned.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes screening applicants; questioning applicants to verity information; using automated equipment to collect and transmit information and fingerprints; reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness; maintaining records; data entry; and provide guidance, instructions, and training to subordinate personnel . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources Management, Administration and Management or in a field directly related to the position being filled.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
