This position is located at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, OPERATIONS DIVISION. The incumbent serves as a strategic advisor to the Chief Operating Officer on operational matters and oversees highly visible and critical initiatives within Operations and across the Bureau.

Duties

As a Senior Advisor to the Chief Operating Officer, you will: Advise the Chief Operating Officer and management by making authoritative recommendations, exercising professional judgment, initiative, and leadership while planning, directing, and coordinating program, operational, and management activities for the Operations Division. Provide strategic thinking and political savvy to communicate and solve complex program, operational, and management problems in the organization's best interest. Lead special projects for the Operations Division such as implementation of major organizational changes. Define goals to be met on special projects, recommend a course of action, and implement the court of action chosen. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to effectuate strategic decisions. Advise the Chief Operating Officer and management on project management, change management, communication and implementation plans for special projects. Serve as the primary point of contact within the Operations Division for alerting management officials of requirements and response times for action items. Lead efforts across Operations and other Bureau stakeholders to resolve urgent and sensitive issues requiring tact, political savvy and extensive coordination and communication.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience For the CN-72, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-60 grade level in the Federal service. (For qualification purposes, the CN-60 is broadly equivalent to the GS-14).Specialized Experience for this position is defined as: Providing strategic guidance to executives on agency wide enterprise organizational programs, projects, operations, and initiatives (e.g., reorganizations, realignments, creation of functional programs); AND Analyzing and evaluating program functions, integrated processes, and organizational capabilities to measure the effectiveness of policies and procedures and development of new approaches; AND Developing recommendations, business cases, proposals, and project plans to support emerging policy and operational efforts; AND Leading large cross-functional teams in order to plan, organize, and coordinate work situations of varied demands and rapidly changing priorities; AND Managing working relationships with various stakeholders throughout an agency (e.g., executives, managers, and employees). CFPB uses an experience-based process to set pay for employees. Experience is evaluated and credited using the employee's résumé.
