About the position: This position will be assigned to the Dyess Bowling Center. This position will be filled as a flexible category position. Flexible category positions have no benefits and no guaranteed hours and may work zero to 40 hours per week. You may be required to work nights, weekends. Recreation Aid, NF-0189-01 with noncompetitive promotion (with pay increase) to a Recreation Assistant, NF-0189-II after completion of training plan.

Duties

The position is established to provide a means by which a new incumbent can become familiar with bowling center operations, rules and organization of leagues and tournaments; obtain a working knowledge of bowling machinery and equipment, lane care and the inventory program. The incumbent will be under direct supervision and will receive duties with full explanatory instruction. Work will be checked to ensure proper procedures; work methods and applicable regulations are adhered to. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Work experience in a bowling center is desired; however, not required. Must have experience in clerical, office, or retail work, such as making change when receiving payments from customers, to include cash handling. Must have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. This is a position of trust and requires completion of a Tier 1 Background Investigation. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination as the incumbent is required to step up 3' onto a metal platform and use of both hands and feet are required to gain access to the pinsetter. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Prior experience in basic supply techniques is desirable. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Background Investigation. This is a position of trust. Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
