Selectee will work in the Insulation Section of the Facility Management Service. Selectee will develop designs and layout, cut, font, joint assemble and install all types of insulating materials on equipment and systems within Puerto Rico or neighboring islands, such as St. Thomas and St. Croix.
Duties
Included, but are not limited to:
Plan and layout work using the principles of triangulation to prepare models, templates, and sketches of items to be insulated.
Use a variety of diagrams, sketches and drawings and other specifications to construct the insulating forms into desired shapes allowing for seams, joints, thickness, and shrinkage.
Assemble and form insulating material to cover irregular shaped valves, flanges, tees, elbows, and other surfaces not suitable for block insulation.
Able to use tools such as knives, rasps, scissors, rulers, electric hand saws and gasket pinches.
Work with fiberglass, mineral fiber form glass, unicellular foam, silica and a variety of prefabricated blocks, pads, sheets or molded forms, fire retardant cement and caulking compounds and canvas cloth.
Assist senior members of the shop in their performance of their duties in the correction of deficiencies.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, may work on weekends and holidays

This position has a language proficiency requirement:
1. Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
2. Must be proficient in spoken Spanish.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Selectees work will require moderate physical exertion and involve prolonged standing and occasional crawling or bending to reach working areas.
