You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the OPERATIONS BRANCH of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will operate vehicles to transport supplies, materials, equipment, and/or tools. You will couple/uncouple tractor and trails and connect/disconnect air brakes and electrical lines. You will ensure that cargo is properly distributed, secured, and protected to prevent damage or loss while in transit. You will drive one or more type of passenger buses and drive in predetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs. You will perform operator maintenance, such as fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You must possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You must possess and maintain a current valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's license with passenger endorsement.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Minimally qualifying experience entails: performing driver before operation checks, operator maintenance services, properly load and secure loads, safely operate vehicles, work under supervision of a Work Leader or journeyman-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly and safely performed.
