The housekeeping aid work leader is located in the Danville VA Medical Center. The position is under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping Aid Supervisor. The primary purpose of the position is to lead housekeeping aids in the accomplishment of daily duties and ensure the cleanliness of the facility is maintained. This work contributes to the care provided to patients, visitors and staff.
Duties
Must possess the knowledge and be able to perform all duties associated within Environmental Management Services.
Lead WG-02 and WG-03 Housekeeping Aids in general housekeeping duties and moving/relocating furniture.
Maintain time and leave group sheets and assign FTE's as needed in the absence of Supervisors.
Relay and communicate projects and moves to Housekeeping Aids; provide the needed equipment and supplies as needed to complete these tasks.
Communicate with Supervisors daily or as needed regarding issues, project updates, or customer complaints.
Attends meetings and takes notes in the absence of the Supervisor.
Assists Supervisors with training of Housekeeping Aids and transitional workers.
Incumbent spot checks employees work as to progress, quality, and provides technical advice on unusual situations.
Ensures employees practice established aseptic and safety techniques, are following all established cleaning policies and procedures, equipment is safe and in proper working condition.
Incumbent assists Housekeeping Aids to accomplish daily duties when not leading to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
Assists laundry Supervisor with linen inventory and linen distribution also communicates with Motor Vehicle Operators regarding linen distribution.
Periodically assesses equipment for serviceability and ensures equipment is clean when turned in at the end of the shift.
Must be able to interpret directions from manufactured product labels.
Assists Supervisors ensuring sensitive paper is being collected and stored per privacy standards.
Incumbent will lead the cleaning and sanitation of rolling stock in all discharged rooms.
When snow is present assists Supervisors and Housekeeping Aids to ensure snow is removed from all entrances in a timely manner.
Work Schedule: Saturday - Wednesday; 7:00am - 3:30pm

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to continually stand, bend, reach, stoop, and kneel while performing regular duties. Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing approximately 50 pounds. Occasionally pushes or pulls loads weighing up to 600 pounds.
