This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs inside the Veterans Health Administration located within VA Sierra Pacific Network-VISN 21 which contains the Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) in the Nursing Service, physically located at the Martinez outpatient clinics. Position is responsible for timekeeping and general clerical support for employees in Nursing Service on the Martinez campus.

Duties

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Types the work schedules from handwritten copies completed by Nurse Managers/supervisors for all units/clinics Keeps track of leave time available for each employee in Nursing Service. Teaches and trains employees how to use the leave menu. Makes rounds to units/clinics daily to annotate scheduling changes, collect overtime/comp-time earned slips and leave reports. Tracks, logs and reports on a variety of T&A and special pay categories requiring the use of unrelated methods, practices and procedures. Prepares tracking system and logs hours reported such as overtime pay, compensatory pay, premium pay and other special pay determinations. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/27/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: The work requires knowledge of an extensive body of rules, regulations, methods and procedures relating to entitlements to and processing of one phase of civilian pay and or leave; or knowledge of a body of standardized rules and regulations relating to entitlement to, and deductions from, civilian pay; and/or knowledge of a body of standardized rules and regulations relating to entitlement to and use of various categories of time and leave and the several types of special pay Also required is knowledge of the different codes, forms, and coding procedures used with each of the several types of actions, T&A reports, documents, or requests being processed. Knowledge of varied and advanced functions of office automation software and software functions to produce a wide range of documents that require complex formats. Knowledge of office automation systems to use several types of software for various office needs. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Analytical ReasoningComputer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Self-Management Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work may require some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending, or sitting. There are no special physical demands. The employee works in an office setting involving everyday risks or discomforts. Normal safety precautions are required.
