The Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section (MLARS) leads the Department's efforts to take the profit out of crime. The multi-dimensional responsibilities of MLARS include anti-money laundering enforcement, asset forfeiture, law development, training, and technical assistance, all done in close cooperation with partners in the United States and abroad. MLARS also provides oversight, management, and policy development for the DOJ Assets Forfeiture and Money Laundering Program.
Duties
The Equitable Sharing Program fosters cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Federal law authorizes the Attorney General to share federally forfeited property with participating state, local, and tribal local law enforcement agencies.
As an Equitable Sharing Program Coordinator, you may perform duties such as:
Developing policies, training materials, and provides advice and guidance to the field and agency partners;
Conducting training to educate stakeholders on the Equitable Sharing Program;
Coordinating and overseeing work of contract employees staffing data analysis and audit and compliance projects; related to the Equitable Sharing Program.
Reviewing audits of program participants to resolve issues and ensure adherence to financial policies;
Receiving, reviewing, and responding to all escalation inquiries from Equitable Sharing Program participants;
Determining eligibility of state and local agencies for inclusion in equitable sharing, identifying and rectifying reporting discrepancies, and identifying and following up on permissible use issues;
Developing and implementing remedial plans for agencies who have violated policy;
Preparing written analytical reports of activities on a wide variety of program transactions, trends, and projects;
Preparing responses to incoming correspondence such as congressional and citizen inquiries and making determinations on policy proposals and individual case determinations for program participants
Representing MLARS at a variety of meetings, conferences, and working groups concerning the policy procedures, and oversight of the Equitable Sharing Program, including making presentations at such meetings, conferences, and working groups;
Drafting, updating, and disseminating changes to the policy guide for the Equitable Sharing Program; and
Discussing policy issues and legislative changes with MLARS' leadership regarding program reform.

Qualifications
Selective Placement Factor: To be found fully qualified for this position, applicants must clearly state, either in the body of their resume or as an attachment to their application, a narrative description of their knowledge and experience providing program support to either a federal, state, local, tribal, or national organization administering an equitable sharing program.
Applicants not addressing this Selective Placement Factor will be determined not to be qualified for the position and will not receive further consideration.
To qualify at the GS-14 Federal grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience, as reflected in their resume, at or equivalent to the GS-13 level: assessing and measuring program effectiveness, auditing compliance of participants to programmatic policies, and preparing reports analyzing how new legislations, policies, or procedures will impact a program and its resources.
