You will serve as a LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Calibration Branch (Code 952) of the Production Resources Department (Code 900) in the of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will plan overall work operations, set priorities, and establish objectives with subordinate technicians and teams. You will provide technical guidance to, and coordination for, the Navy's Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) program. You will advise higher level management officials on problems involving METCAL program operations, when determined necessary. You will evaluate the effectiveness of operations in terms of mission accomplishment, quality and quantity standards, procedural, policy and regulatory compliance, and technical competence. You will design, develop, initiate, monitor, assess and implement policies, programs, and controls which will enable the branch to have the capacity and capability needed to provide products and services in compliance with requirements. You will identify, monitor, assess, initiate and implement actions to ensure equipment and work environment are safe, secure and adequate to produce products and provide services needed. You will serve as senior technical advisor on technical engineering design matters; will develop strategies for improving existing and new processes. You will lead a team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization. You will monitor and report on the status and progress of work and make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks. You will train or arrange for the training of team members in methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing, developing, and implementing technical engineering methods and procedures to provide overall planning and direction of work operations, identify problems, and recommend solutions for a naval metrology or calibration program.
