Duties

You will serve as a Geospatial Information and Services (GI and S) Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) scientist in support of specialized Navy and Department of Defense systems and technology for Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic. You will implement or optimize functionality and performance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to ensure availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of GIS data-driven resources. You will develop methods to utilize GIS mapping data in order to assist in the development of courses of action within given scenarios. You will plan, construct, evaluate, analyze, and modify mapping and charting systems and technology to support emerging needs in the GEOINT domain.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or NH-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning, scheduling, budgeting, designing, procuring, integrating, and testing various projects and programs pertaining to the application of cutting-edge technology in a System of Systems and GIS environment; to include project management principles, techniques, and procedures. 1370:
  1. Degree: cartography; or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites).

  2. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.


1515:

Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
