This National Guard position is for a AIRMAN AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), Position Description Number NGT5303P02 and is part of the TN 118th WING, Air National Guard.

Duties
As an AIRMAN FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST, GS-0301-11, you will assist the Air National Guard Wing leadership in the development and implementation of a family readiness and support program to include Personal and Family Life Education services, Airman and Family Readiness Deployment Support, Personal Financial Readiness services, Employment Assistance, Military Child/Youth Program and Education, Transition Assistance Program - Title 32 and 10 funding, Wounded, Ill, and Injured Warrior/member and or family member, Disaster Preparedness - EFAC/AFPAAS, Relocation Assistance Program, Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), Community Outreach and Cooperative Interface, Voting Assistance Program, and Educates on Survivor Benefit Plan at the unit level and provide family readiness assistance at the GSUs. Provide plans for an efficient resource management program and maximum support of service delivery to include resource center (discovery center), equipment, funding, tracking, and computerized systems - AFFIRST, etc. Plans include supported projections of long-term family readiness and support plans and resource needs to wing level trends and directives. Identify service member and family issues that require exploration, development, and resolutions, and determines appropriate methods and resources. Coordinate information for seminars, conferences, and orientation workshops as appropriate for family members and volunteers. Perform other duties as assigned.

- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle and if so, an appropriate valid driver’s license is required.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
- Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
- Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
- For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months or 1 year at the next lower-level specialized experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.

In addition, completion of courses such as the Officer Advanced Course, Squadron Officer School, Command and Staff College, Air and Army War College, National Security Management Course and others of comparable level will be credited at the rate of 1 month of education for 2 months of specialized experience.
