You will serve as a Records & Information Management Specialist in the Command Total Force and Operations (SEA 10) Directorate of NAVAL SEA SYSTEMS COMMAND.

Duties

You will perform a range of duties as the Records and Information Management Specialist in supporting the Records Management Inspection Reviews, which encompasses the evaluation of a myriad of functional areas, some of which are very complex. You will be responsible for participating in the overall planning, management, and execution of both core mission and administrative records systems, regardless of medium or format, throughout NAVSEA. You will assist in the planning, organizing, directing, reviewing, coordinating, and establishing controls for all NAVSEA records activities. You will ensure DON procedures are in compliance with federal regulations under the Code of Federal Regulations and reviews the General Records Schedules issued by the National Archives and Records Administration. You will assist in the development of evaluation and survey tools to enable appraisal of the Command Records Management Program and assist with the necessary corrective action. You will work closely and proactively with legal counsel within the Department of the Navy (DON) to ensure records/information assets are managed to mitigate records-related litigation risks. You will consult with the NAVSEA Chief Information Officer (CIO) Office to assure records management technology in use is consistent with DON enterprise architecture. You will work with the NAVSEA CIO to build records management functionality into the NAVSEA enterprise architecture and to ensure all NAVSEA information systems incorporate records management functionality. You will recognize the need for additional inspections as data is developed during Command Inspections being performed.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing guidance or assistance in record management activities to ensure the identification, retrieval, maintenance or disposition of records within an organization.
