You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the NAVY FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of JOINT EXPED BASE LITTLE CREEK FT STORY.

Duties

You will manage Fire and Emergency Services Programs to maintain a state of readiness for protecting life and property. You will analyze the structural condition of a building to determine firefighting equipment and apparatus required to fight fire. You will train firefighters on airfield, shipboard, structural, confined space, and hazardous materials firefighting procedures. You will analyze the environment (e.g., relationship between fuels, topography, wind, humidity) in the fire environment to ensure use of the correct firefighting apparatus. You will lead a crew of three or more firefighters assigned to staff a pumper, aerial ladder truck, or rescue vehicle in firefighting and rescue operations. You will brief senior leaders or other employees on matters on firefighting actives, personnel, and equipment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC).

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Provides immediate oversite and direction of GS-0081 lead Firefighters, Firefighters and Firefighter-Paramedics, with oversite of day-to-day operations at a fire station for one or more assigned engine, ladder and ambulance companies for an assigned shift. 2) Directs a full range of firefighting duties where unusually difficult problems arise. Executes standard and specialized procedures such as confined space rescue, vehicle extrication, emergency response and emergency medical services. 3) Monitors status of operational readiness within the organization at the company-and station-levels, to ensure personnel are properly equipped and trained to meet mission requirements. 4) Observes and evaluates overall effectiveness of fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, rescue programs and provides assistance to subordinates, senior staff, command representatives, and external customers. 5) Ensures all administrative and operational records, reports and statistical information are maintained as required, reports, statistical data are forwarded as required. Redirects subordinates and provides performance and quality feedback to subordinates on records management and report accuracy. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application to verify eligibility. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
