About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (Military) in a Medical Readiness Brigade, National Capital Region (MRB, NCR). Responsible for the formulation, maintenance, and overall supervision of the Human Resources (HR) matters and enhancement of personnel readiness in support of over 2,200 military and civilian personnel.

Duties

As the senior technical advisor to the Commander, provides full range of advice and guidance on military HR management issues, in addition to accomplishing, monitoring, and directing the HR functions. Directs daily operations of subordinate Human Resources Specialists to ensure accomplishment of all required functions, e.g., Military HR personnel accountability, reports, and administrative actions. Determines priorities and assigns work to subordinate HR Specialists based upon selective consideration of such factors as difficulty/requirements of assignments, available resources, and capabilities and special qualifications of employees. Ensures on-the-job and formal training for subordinate staff. Directs civilian and military personnel actions to ensure optimum organizational effectiveness. Serves as primary certifier for subordinate Human Resources Specialists and ensures leave is taken and reported accurately in Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS). Responsible for the implementation and management of the Medical Officer’s Special Pay.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 10 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 20% of the time.
