Duties
As a Health Scientist (Program Evaluation) you will:
Ensure evaluation approaches and designs align with the six-step CDC evaluation framework or similar frameworks, are tailored to the situation, and possess the appropriate level of rigor for stakeholder needs.
Form and lead collaboration on program monitoring and evaluation projects/studies and coordinate efforts, as appropriate, with other program staff; other CDC Centers, Institutes, and Offices; CDC Country offices; other federal agencies; national, state, and local health agencies; private and non-profit organizations; and/or other relevant stakeholders.
Synthesize evaluation and monitoring results into written documents and/or oral presentations, using tailored communication and data visualization techniques.
Provide program evaluation advice and/or assistance in the resolution of complex technical problems and/or issues that include significant barriers to the evaluation of programs or projects.
Supervise a small contingent of positions.

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience: designing, overseeing, implementing and conducting program monitoring and evaluating studies and/or projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public health programs and policies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
